Recipe Challenge and Update

I did not do one ounce of digi scrapping the month of August. I decided today it was time to get back in the groove of things.

This LO completes the Recipe Challenge over at STS.

I have some sad news by the way of an update. I am not longer working as part of the Creative Team for Eva Marina Scraps. Eva has decided to move to another forum, and the time requirements are just too much for me with my 2 kids and my other hobbies. I had a great time being part of Eva's CT and I am so glad she gave me the opportunity.

I might look around for another Creative Team to join, but for now I am just happy to be back and scrapping!

I am hosting my first speed scrap tonight at Stuff to Scrap! Eva Marina Scraps made an adorable brag book and I added a few word arts, for the participation prize! Come on over and join us! It's going to be great!

Challenge Updates

Here are the challenges I have completed so far over at Stuff to Scrap.

Color Challenge:
The colors we had to use were Red, White and Blue. I scrapped my father-in-law, Clark, when he was in the Army, back in the day!

Template Challenge:
This month the template challenge was a bit different. Instead of creating a layout with a template that was given to us, we had to create our own template. We were given 5 or so shapes we HAD to use and this is what I came up with! You can download the template in both rectangle (8.5x11) and square (12x12) HERE!!! (both the rectangle and square are in the same download!)

Recipe Challenge:
To complete the recipe challenge, we had to scrap something we are obsessed with. The catch was it could not be a person, or a family member. I chose to scrap The Coronation of Josephine by David. I love this painting. It makes me wish I could live in the Louvre.

Use it or Lose it Challenge:
Here is my Layout for the Use it or lose it. The kit is really cute! If you can't tell, I am really obsessed with scrapping with a lot of white space right now. I go through stages. Soon I'll think that white space is boring and be moved onto something else!

Desktop Challenge:
I am on the Creative Team for Eva Marina Scraps. She is the host of the Desktop Challenge over at Stuff to Scrap, so I always participate in hers. I used her new kit "Celebrate" which has a great mix of American and Canadian elements and colors. It worked perfect for the picture of my friends who are American and Canadian!

Speed Scrap:
Here is my first speed scrap of the month. I had a hard time because I wasn't really feeling it, but I completed it and had a fun time!

More Challenges

Here are some more LO's that completed the challenges over at Stuff to Scrap. If you digi scrap and have not checked them out yet, you need to. SERIOUSLY!!!

Ok. . onto the layouts.

This LO completes the Font Challenge:
The little guy on the left is my adorable nephew who inherited a suit from my little guy, shown on the right.

This LO completes the "Use-it-or-lose-it" Challenge:
In this challenge, you get a mini-kit from a designer and have to use all of the things they give you. In this case there were 3 papers (one of them is a little heart in the cluster at the top) and 5 elements. This challenge was really hard for me becuase I wasn't really digging the colors of the kit, or the patterns

This LO completes the quote challenge:
The quote comes from the movie "Ferris Buller's Day Off" I loved that movie when I was a kid. Especially the part where he sings "Shake it up baby" in the parade.

This LO completes the Motto challenge:
The motto comes from the Verizon commercials!

You might be thinking "But Natasha, you already did a motto and quote challenge" Well, those kind folks over at Stuff to Scrap have 2 quote and 2 motto challenges every month which gives you ample opportunity to fine tune your scrapping skills and come up with something great!

Color Challenge

For the Color Challenge over at Stuff to Scrap, I scrapped some pictures of Bella's first birthday!
Only 2 more challenges to go!!

I also completed a second "Word of the Week" layout. The word of the week was "Beauty" or any form of the word. I scrapped pictures of our day in Central Park and titled it "All things bright and beautiful. . . the Lord God made them all"

3 to go!!!

I spend the better part of my "scrapbook time" trying to figure out how to make a custom shape. I was successful after looking online. My new favorite website is www.photoshopessentials.com for all your photoshop needs. Check it out if you need some help!

I was DREADING the template challenge at Stuff to Scrap this month. It was a journaling challenge. 75% of the layout had to be journaling, and there was only 1 small picture. UGH! I finally sat down last night and just started typing and didn't stop until I had filled the space. It reminded me of my Freshman English class at USU when we had to spend the first 10 min or so of class "free-writing" I need to do that more often!

This is the template we were given:

This is what I came up with.

challenge, INDEED

The Recipe Challenge at Stuff to Scrap this month was HARD!!! I am not used to using so many elements and all patterend paper. I think it turned out pretty cute, and I love the look of the green and black together!

more, more, more oh my!

I had a good scrapping day! I churned out quite a few layouts!
I finished the Scraplift challenge from Stuff to Scrap, but I can't post it until the challenge is finished. It was a "telephone" game where the first person was sent a layout and they had to scraplift it and create their own layout. Then they sent it on to the next person etc etc until you are finished and you see how your layout compares to the original! As soon as the game is over I'll post the layout. I think mine turned out super cute!

I also finished the Song Lyric challenge. This one was a hard one! The lyrics were to the song "School's out" by Alice Cooper. I don't have any kids in school, and Greg and I are both graduated. I pulled out some graduation photos circa 2005 and made it work! GO AGGIES!!!

Word of the Week and Theme Challenges

More Challenges completed from Stuff to Scrap!

Theme Challenge was Grandfathers. This is a picture of Greg's maternal grandfather when he was in his early 20's. He was born in 1909 and will be 100 this year. The text says 7 children, 41 grand children, 95 great grand children and 3 great great grandchildren! WOW! That really is an amazing legacy!

Word of the Week challenge was "Laughter" My mom has a plaque in her living room that says "A child's laughter is sunshine in the home" I love it and this picture of Bella in the bath!

Head over to Stuff to Scrap and check out the challenges to kick your digi scrapping up a notch!

Quote Challenge

The quote for the "quite challenge" at Stuff to Scrap this month is from Mark Twain, "As for me, give me comfort first and style afterward" I had the PERFECT picture of my little guy for this one. He is off to work, with no pants, elmo slippers and his "briefcase" Oh I love that little guy!

Just as a "design note" the background is supposed to be TRANSPARENT, not white!

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

And it is only the 2nd of June. . .

I have already completed 2 LO for the challenges over at Stuff to Scrap! If you are digi scrapping and have not checked them out, you really need to!

The first challenge was the "Desktop Challenge" I created this desktop/calendar for my computer. I can't believe that my little peanut is almost 1!!!

The second challenge was a Speed Scrap. I love these. 7 instructions and 1 hour to complete! It's great!

Completed!

I love marking things off my "list" I completed my goal to participate in all of the challenges at Stuff to Scrap this month (with the exception of the Scrap Lift Challenge. . I didn't get signed up in time! There's always next month)

My final challenge was the Font Challenge. We had to use the font Susie's Hand. If you don't have that font, go to Abstract Fonts and get it. Did I mention that Abstract Fonts is my FAVORITE website for free fonts???

Here is my layout:

Roxy

Eva Marina Scraps has come out with a new kit named "Roxy" It is awesome. It has 20 papers, 51 embellishments and a full alphabet! The kit is 30% off in the store, so it is a STEAL! Head on over to the Stuff to Scrap store to pick it up.

Here are some of the layouts I did with the kit.

Check out the other members of Eva's Creative Team (see the links on my side bar) to see how they used the kit!

"Use it or Lose it" and "Slogan" Challenges

This layout completes the requirement for the "use it or lose it" challenge at Stuff to Scrap. We were able to download a mini kit, but we HAD to use everything form the kit in the LO. I really liked the papers in the kit, but I thought the embellishments were a little y for the photos I chose!

Motto/Slogan Challenge and Challenge Update

I worked on my digi scrapping today. It's been too long! I decided I needed to kick my bottom into gear if I was going to get all the challenges done before the end of the month!

I worked on the Motto Challenge. The motto was "I'm a big kid now" Here is what I came up with:
Only 2 more challenges to complete. The "Use it or lose it" and the "Font" challenge. I have not received the kit I am supposed to use for the Use it of Lose it challenge, so I may not make that one this month, but my fingers are crossed!

Theme Challenge

Here is the LO I did for the Theme Challenge over at Stuff to Scrap. The theme was "Mothers" In this picture we have my grandma, my mom, myself and my son. 3 of us are mothers and there are 4 generations which is pretty cool.

Seriously, I am having so much fun with these challenges!

Color Challenge and update

This month, over at Stuff to Scrap (where else???) the color challenge was to use red, brown and orange. I liked how subtle the red is in this layout. The text and the flower on the background cream paper. I'm such a red girl that I figured the red would dominate, but I am really happy with how it turned out. There are only 4 more challenges for me to finish before I meet my goal of participating in all the challenges! I was not able to participate in the Scrap-lift Challenge since you had to sign up at the first of the month and I was not aware, so I will try to catch that one next month. These challenges have really helped me with my digi- scrapping. Now if I just had more time. . . .

Speed Scrap

This was my favorite speed scrap to date. To participate in the speed scraps, head on over to Stuff to Scrap.

Here is the Speed Scrap Schedule for the rest of May. Please note, ALL times are in EST since that's the time zone I am in!
  • Monday May 18th 3pm EST
  • Wednesday May 20th 8pm EST
  • Sunday May 24th 3pm EST
  • Thursday May 28th 1pm EST
Here were the instructions for this speed scrap:

1. Choose two patterned papers and one solid paper. Place the solid paper as your background.

2. Choose one photo. We are gonna do selective coloring on this photo (if you are not sure how to do this, then visit this tutorial: http://www.brighthub.com/multimedia/photography/articles/9796.aspx). Choose the part of the photo you want to leave colored and then turn the rest of t
he photo black and white (feel free to play with blending modes and filters and whatnot to spice up the black and white).

3. Shape the patterned papers into ONE CIRCLE and ONE SQUARE or RECT
ANGLE and place them on your layout in a position where they are touching in some way.

4. Once you have your photo just the way you like it, duplicate it at LEAST ONCE (feel free to duplicate it as many times as you like). Then place the photo's on your layout (these can be touching or not, your choice).

5. Use any elements you want to frame at least one of your photos. You can use anything but a frame. It doesn’t have to be all the way around the photo(s) but at least on TWO sides.

6. Add five elements to your page, but make sure one is at least partway behind the circle. You may duplicate those five elements as many times as you like.

7. Title your layout using ONE word (or name). Add journaling and date if you like. You have one hour to upload your layout to the gallery and link it back to the forum so we can all give you some love. Make sure you upload under your USERNAME and put SS in the keywords!!

Word of the Week

Tonight I worked on the "Word of the Week" challenge over at Stuff to Scrap. The word was "Friend" or "Friendship" You could use the word in the layout or imply the word through pictures etc. Here is what I came up with:

Template Challenge

Here is my take on the Template challenge over at Stuff to Scrap. I am not a huge fan of 2 page layouts, but this was pretty fun!

Quote Challenge

This LO is for the Quote Challenge over at Stuff to Scrap.
The quote to use was "It is a happy talent to know how to play" by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Here is what I came up with. . .

New Kits from Eva Marina Scraps

Eva has 3 new kits up in the Stuff to Scrap Store. Strawberry Fudge Blueberry Cream and Like No Other Click on the links to head to the store to get them.

Here are some of the LO I made with these kits.

Out to Sea Layouts and Word Art Bonus

Here are the layouts I did with the Out to Sea kit by Eva Marine Scarps. You can get the kit HERE at the Stuff to Scrap Store!

This kit gives so many great options to create layouts, even if you don't have "sea" type pictures to scrap!

Also, as an added bonus, I created this word art to go along with the kit! You can download it free, HERE!
