I love marking things off my "list" I completed my goal to participate in all of the challenges at Stuff to Scrap this month (with the exception of the Scrap Lift Challenge. . I didn't get signed up in time! There's always next month)
My final challenge was the Font Challenge. We had to use the font Susie's Hand. If you don't have that font, go to Abstract Fonts and get it. Did I mention that Abstract Fonts is my FAVORITE website for free fonts???
Eva Marina Scraps has come out with a new kit named "Roxy" It is awesome. It has 20 papers, 51 embellishments and a full alphabet! The kit is 30% off in the store, so it is a STEAL! Head on over to the Stuff to Scrap store to pick it up.
Here are some of the layouts I did with the kit.
Check out the other members of Eva's Creative Team (see the links on my side bar) to see how they used the kit!
This layout completes the requirement for the "use it or lose it" challenge at Stuff to Scrap. We were able to download a mini kit, but we HAD to use everything form the kit in the LO. I really liked the papers in the kit, but I thought the embellishments were a little y for the photos I chose!
I worked on my digi scrapping today. It's been too long! I decided I needed to kick my bottom into gear if I was going to get all the challenges done before the end of the month!
I worked on the Motto Challenge. The motto was "I'm a big kid now" Here is what I came up with: Only 2 more challenges to complete. The "Use it or lose it" and the "Font" challenge. I have not received the kit I am supposed to use for the Use it of Lose it challenge, so I may not make that one this month, but my fingers are crossed!
Here is the LO I did for the Theme Challenge over at Stuff to Scrap. The theme was "Mothers" In this picture we have my grandma, my mom, myself and my son. 3 of us are mothers and there are 4 generations which is pretty cool.
Seriously, I am having so much fun with these challenges!
This month, over at Stuff to Scrap (where else???) the color challenge was to use red, brown and orange. I liked how subtle the red is in this layout. The text and the flower on the background cream paper. I'm such a red girl that I figured the red would dominate, but I am really happy with how it turned out. There are only 4 more challenges for me to finish before I meet my goal of participating in all the challenges! I was not able to participate in the Scrap-lift Challenge since you had to sign up at the first of the month and I was not aware, so I will try to catch that one next month. These challenges have really helped me with my digi- scrapping. Now if I just had more time. . . .
This was my favorite speed scrap to date. To participate in the speed scraps, head on over to Stuff to Scrap.
Here is the Speed Scrap Schedule for the rest of May. Please note, ALL times are in EST since that's the time zone I am in!
Monday May 18th 3pm EST
Wednesday May 20th 8pm EST
Sunday May 24th 3pm EST
Thursday May 28th 1pm EST
Here were the instructions for this speed scrap:
1. Choose two patterned papers and one solid paper. Place the solid paper as your background.
2. Choose one photo. We are gonna do selective coloring on this photo (if you are not sure how to do this, then visit this tutorial: http://www.brighthub.com/multimedia/photography/articles/9796.aspx). Choose the part of the photo you want to leave colored and then turn the rest of the photo black and white (feel free to play with blending modes and filters and whatnot to spice up the black and white).
3. Shape the patterned papers into ONE CIRCLE and ONE SQUARE or RECTANGLE and place them on your layout in a position where they are touching in some way.
4. Once you have your photo just the way you like it, duplicate it at LEAST ONCE (feel free to duplicate it as many times as you like). Then place the photo's on your layout (these can be touching or not, your choice).
5. Use any elements you want to frame at least one of your photos. You can use anything but a frame. It doesn’t have to be all the way around the photo(s) but at least on TWO sides.
6. Add five elements to your page, but make sure one is at least partway behind the circle. You may duplicate those five elements as many times as you like.
7. Title your layout using ONE word (or name). Add journaling and date if you like. You have one hour to upload your layout to the gallery and link it back to the forum so we can all give you some love. Make sure you upload under your USERNAME and put SS in the keywords!!
Tonight I worked on the "Word of the Week" challenge over at Stuff to Scrap. The word was "Friend" or "Friendship" You could use the word in the layout or imply the word through pictures etc. Here is what I came up with:
I'm on my first Creative Team!! I applied and was chosen to be part of Eva Marina Scraps. I'm very excited for this opportunity.
The first kit I get to work with is called "Out to Sea" It will be available in the Stuff to Scrap store on May 11. Check back for Layouts I did with this kit and check out Eva's blog to meet the rest of the Creative Team!
Tonight after working on some CT layouts, I decided to do a Stuff to Scrap Challenge, the song lyric challenge to be exact.
The lyrics chosen were: "Domo Arigato" from the song Mr. Roboto by Styx. Of course I never since the correct lyrics to songs, so when this song comes on in our house, I like to sing, "Domo Arigato, Mr. el gato" I think it turned out perfectly! And, thanks again Zeb for singing my baby to sleep!
Step 3 Take 1 of your papers and use as your background paper take another one of your papers and shrink it down to between 10" and 11" (you decide the size) Place it over your background paper any way you want to. Attach that paper with some stitching
Step 4 Take your one picture and using the stroke function, make a border around your picture in any color of your choosing. Duplicate this picture 2 times so that you now have 3 of the same picture, all stroked.
Step 5 Take those three pictures and fan them out and attach them to your paper with some sort of clip.
Step 6 Take your remaining 3 papers and make them into strips and place them where you would like them.
Step 7 Add some sort of cluster to your layout using each of the following 3 different types of flowers, staples, and some string or ribbon.
Step 8 Make a title for your layout using an Alpha for one of the words and a font for the others. Make sure to date your layout!
I participated today in the National Scrapbook Day Speed Scrap and Bingo Game over at Stuff to Scrap.
Here is the Layout I did for the speed scrap.
The instructions were: 1. Choose any 3 papers you want. 2. Use 1 paper for your background. Cut the other 2 into strips to border your layout (you'll need 4 strips total.) 3. Choose 3 photos from the same event. 4. Be sure all 3 photos are the same shape, but make sure each one is slightly bigger than the next. Position them any way you want on your layout. 5. Use some stitches or staples somewhere (buttons or brads are also acceptable) 6. Use at least 1 flower and 1 doodle to embellish. Use more if you like. 7. Give me a 2 word title. Date and journal if you wish.
I think it turned out pretty cute!
I was SO close to winning the Bingo game. We were playing to "blackout" and I had one word left when another scrapping gal won. I really enjoy bingo, so it was super fun! Too bad it is not National Scrapbook Day everyday!
